International House Oaxaca

My teacher Itan was wonderful! I spent two weeks at IH-Oaxaca- Itan guided the lessons around the experiences and interests of the students in the class (which helped me remember my new vocabulary) and set the pace just perfectly. The school is in a lovely location with wonderful food and coffee just around every corner, or right in their own courtyard! As a single traveler I felt very safe day and night and the locals couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. I had a truly lovely experience and would recommend IH-Oaxaca for anyone wanting to learn or improve their Spanish in a great city.

Great school!! Laura is one of the best teachers I've ever had! Learend and advanced a lot dring 2 weeks. Location of the school is great, right in the center. And you have a nice cafe there too.. Would definitely recommend this school if you're in Mexico or in Oaxaca City.

Travelling around Latin America I've now attended five different language schools. IH Oaxaca was comfortably the best. For me the main difference between the schools has been the teacher, and my teacher at IH Oaxaca was Itandehui, who was brilliant. Her enthusiasm, skill, and experience shine through and she makes lessons highly productive and fun. Her energy is remarkable. My lessons were engaging and well structured so I wasn't just learning lots, but also learning the right things at the right time to maximise my understanding. The only downside is that I've expected the same quality of teaching from the other schools I've been to since and keep getting disappointed!

will repeat a lot of what the other reviews say - fantastic school, great teacher (Itan), and overall left very very happy. I went for a month, in which the classes reflected a lot of what I wanted to learn, consistently adapted to my level and spent more/less time depending on how I was doing with the topics. Itan took me around to a few places in the city as well, giving me little history lessons and showing me places I might otherwise miss (bookstores, theaters, museums). Itan clearly put a ton of effort into the lessons, and deeply cared about my progress, and we still talk today.Aside from the classes, the school was very invested in my experience in Mexico as a whole: Laura set me up with a great host family (and made sure to check in on me to make sure everything was going well at home), gave great advice on places to visit, where to secure transit, eat, and pretty much everything I could want.If there's anything that you'd want out of your class/experience in Oaxaca, just ask, and Itan and Laura will make sure it can happen.Next time I'm in Oaxaca, I'd gladly go back.

My husband and I love this Spanish School! The professor Itan was knowledgeable, patient, kind, fun and kept the class moving. We took classes 5 days a week, for 4 hours a day for 2 weeks. Laura the director of the school was extremely helpful, available and always very kind. The classroom setting was excellent. Quiet, private, great location, with no distractions. We would highly recommend you not hesitate to enroll here to expand your knowledge and understanding of the Spanish language.

I can highly recommend IH Oaxaca to anybody looking for a professional Spanish school in Oaxaca! I spent about 7 weeks there and from the beginning was really happy with having chosen this school over others. Both Laura (coordinator) and Ita (teacher) always acted in a very friendly, positive, and professional manner. Also, I really liked that Ita (teacher) listened to my desires which I voiced in the beginning to focus on speaking rather than grammar. She adjusted the lessons accordingly which helped me massively to reach my goals. Furthermore, it was obvious that she always put a lot of effort in preparing the classes and in the course of that even added a personal note" to the exercices which made them much more interesting and fun. My week at IH Oaxaca has been without a doubt one of the best experiences on my Central America travel - from the first contact to the lessons themselves, everything and everyone was well-organized, highly professional and yet very personal and accommodating. Especially my teacher (Ita) made my week there absolutely memorable. Being a teacher myself I know how much it takes to give good lessons that are properly catered to the student's needs, and Ita's were outstanding. Thanks to her highly engaging methods, her energetic and motivating personality and her profound professional knowledge, my Spanish skyrocketed within a week.I can whole-heartedly recommend to take lessons here, and I can only hope to find a school again that matches IH's quality.

I had amazing Spanish classes with Itan at International House Oaxaca. She is just the best language teacher and an absolutely lovely and sympathetic person. I especially liked that we practiced talking a lot.

I spent 1 week at International House Oaxaca. I had the best time! My teacher Itan was amazing and we did lots of speaking which made me so so much more confident in my abilities. I stayed in the hotel attached to the language school, it was very laid back and the staff all very kind. If you are looking for good teaching in a lovely city in a relaxed environment then I recognise this place.

I appreciated Ita ‘a organization, resourcefulness, and dedication to my learning goals. Ita made sure she had women’s health related handouts, exercises, and readings. It was a pleasure to spend 3 hours with her daily for a week. She worked hard to teach Spanish grammar and conversation skills using health care themes. The school location is near the city center and the rooms are large and airy. I enjoyed a delicious breakfast on the first day of classes. Thank you Ita and Laura for your dedication.
