Val Verde Regional Medical Center

I’d never give this hospital such a high rating but thanks to Ms Darcy in the maternity part of the hospital I can today . Such a sweet and kind person and was really one of the best nurses who helped us and my newborn when we had to stay longer than expected. Appreciate everything that was done for me, my husband, and newborn while being there thanks to her.<3

I didn’t even want to give this hospital one star!! Don’t bring your family member here you’re better off taking them some where else! It feels like a prison you have to be escorted in all the way into the patients room by a security guard, Which is ridiculous!!! A hospital is supposed to feel inviting and welcoming but not here! I’m really surprised they didn’t check my purse with all their policies!!! I don’t ever want to step foot in this hospital ever again!!!!!! Taking my mother to Shannon Medical Hospital in San Angelo it’s alot better than here in Del Rio!!!!

Very bad experience!!! Wait time was insane!! I wouldn't recommend anyone to this hospital emergency room!!! I went to the Val Verde Regional Medical Center Emergency Room & checked in at 2:30 complaining that I was experiencing chest & back pain, shortness of breath, high blood pressure, swollen ankles & tingling in hands & arms. I was worried that I may be having a heart attack?! I was called back at 3:00 for a CNA to take an EKG & blood work for lab & then directed back to the lobby to wait. I watched as many patients who'd arrived after me were being called & taken back & made several complaints. They finally called me back after 6:30! I was told & informed that the 'doctor' would be seeing me shortly. After the so called 'doctor' listened to my complaints he informed me that my heart was ok but that he was concerned that I may have a blood clot &/pulmonary embolism so he ordered a cat scan be performed where the results came back normal, thank God! I mention so called 'doctor' because I was told the entirety of the time he was a doctor but in fact he was just a nurse practitioner on my 9:30 PM discharge paperwork! It's absolutely ridiculous that I was tended to by a nurse practitioner & not a doctor in an emergency room! Quite scary actually! If I'd known that I would & could've just gone to an urgent care or CVS minute clinic & received the same care by a NP! A patient at an ER should be receiving care from an MD & not from an NP with an approximate 5 year nursing degree at an ER for an emergency at an ER!!! I've since reported a complaint &/dispute with both Val Verde Regional Medical Center & my Insurance Company! The billing breakdown should be interesting?!

I’ve Experienced Great Care here. Staff and Physicians are professional , compassionate! My PA and Podiatrist are great!

took my son in for a broken elbow and the radiologist tech was so rough and had no pediatrician courtesy at all. They seemed they didn't want to help and were overall rough. I now take my family to San Antonio and San Antonio is way better at treating people and actually helping them. Horrible experience!
